COVID-19’s impact on BC’s economy is eventually showing: Only half (53%) of temporarily closed BC businesses expect to reopen once the social distancing restrictions are eased on workplace operations and 73% of BC businesses expect their revenues to drop by 50% or more.
Facebook’s State of Small Business Report revealed that about thirty percent of small US businesses ceased operations due to the Coronavirus outbreak. This all means driving digital business is more relevant than ever to stay afloat, especially during times of uncertainty. To help small business owners, Facebook announced the new and free feature ‘Facebook Shops’ in partnership with Shopify.
Over the coming months, it will be possible to set up an online shop directly on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp and which will also allow you to sell products through Instagram Direct, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. You only have to set up the store once; it will be available over all of Facebook’s platforms and if you’re already using Shopify, you can easily transfer your data to ‘Facebook Shops’. The shop will be highly customizable with brand colours and page headers and will even support customer loyalty features.
Which impact does this have?
‘Facebook Shops’ will make it easier for merchants to sell their products seamlessly over more than one channel. ‘Facebook Shops’ provides you with the opportunity to dive into the world of e-commerce at no cost to make your business ready for the future.
