What to do this Easter
No question, this Easter will be different from the years and decades before. We can’t change anything about it and while it’s still the safest thing to do for your community to stay home, we’ve collected some great ideas on what you can do this weekend.
Zoom/Houseparty Easter Brunch
If you can’t visit your whole family for Easter, then think about bringing your whole family into your house, virtually! With Zoom or Houseparty you can ‘host’ an Easter Brunch at your home. Decorate, bake and prepare a nice meal like you would usually do and look forward to next year, where everyone will hopefully be together again.
Creative Easter Egg Hunt
This year’s egg hunt will probably take place inside or in your private backyard – which is totally okay if you think about it. Try to find the most creative hiding places in your condo or house. You can even hide some love notes for your significant other or write little vouchers for post quarantine outings.
Let the kids decorate the house
This is a great way to keep your kids busy and let them get creative at the same time! They will love to think about where and what Easter decorations to put up and maybe they can create some own decorations: knitted garlands, cardboard eggs or the classic: self-coloured eggs. See below!
DIY Easter egg colouring
There’s not even a need to buy special egg colouring kits. You can all DIY at home. Here’s a guide on how to dye eggs with cabbage, turmeric or paprika from Indigo or you can use food colouring for hard-boiled eggs.
If you’d just like to create Easter ornaments to decorate your home:
- Pinch two holes in the top and bottom of an egg with a sharp knife.
- Blow out the egg until empty and give it a rinse.
- Paint eggshells with for example nail polish or watercolours and add a loop string to one side of the egg – Voila!
Virtual Church Visit
For some of you, it might be a part of the Easter tradition to go to church. You can still attend virtual Easter services! For example, Broadway Church hosts four Easter services at different times during the day. More info and other churches, here.
Join a live Dance Party!
DDPP Vancouver is hosting a live Zoom ‘Dance Dance Party Party’ on Sunday, April 12 at 2 pm. DJ Darfunkel will provide the tunes for you to groove! Here’s your way to the party!
