Single-Use Items Bylaws Come Into Effect
Beginning Jan 1, 2022 the following bans will go into place:
plastic and compostable plastic bags begins, fees on paper and new reusable shopping bags becomes mandatory.
A $.25 fee for disposable cups must be charged.
All foam cups and foam take out containers are also no longer permitted.

Businesses, charities and not-for-profits can download or order printed toolkit materials at vancouver.ca/reduce-single-use to help communicate the by-law requirements to staff and customers.
Toolkit materials include
a by-law guide,
FAQs, posters,
till toppers,
menu icon,
stickers,
window decals, and
sample flexible plastic straws.
Toolkits are available in English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Punjabi, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
