Happy 90th Birthday, Stanley!
In December 1930, the Stanley opened its doors as a movie house, with a screening of Lilian Gish’s first talkie, One Romantic Night. This movie house-turned-theatrical venue has entertained generations of audiences, and has been a beating heart of the South Granville community.
Since the Arts Club’s acquisition of the building in 1998, the Stanley has hosted over 125 productions, from blockbuster musicals to 20th century classics.
We can’t wait for the doors of the Stanley to open again – and if you feel the same, please consider donating to the Arts Club this year as theatre companies have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
