Supportive Housing for Elderly and Women

As you may be aware, Connective was selected by BC Housing to operate a new 114 studio suites with private housing supportive housing program at 1450 West 12th in our neighbourhood. In this building, Connective will give preference to seniors who are already BC Housing tenants but wish to move into a more seniors-focused building. Among these, they will also prioritize Indigenous people, women and other equity-denied groups with safe, affordable housing, along with 24/7 support services such as meal programs, life and employment skills training, as well as health and cultural supports. Inside amenities may include several lounge areas, a central dining room, a commercial kitchen, and office space for staff.

Connective is a social services nonprofit operating in BC and the Yukon with a vision of creating safe, healthy, and inclusive communities for all. They do this through a continuum of housing, life skills, outreach, employment, and community-based services, with the goal of assisting individuals to achieve greater independence.

Connective has a 90-year history of providing person-centred, housing-first care in Vancouver and they are honoured to be able to have the opportunity to expand their services in Vancouver and look forward to continuing to work closely with the community.

It is at this time the SGBIA believes this housing program should add to our diverse and inclusive community, as well as ensure people in our community have access to safe and secure housing with wraparound, person-centred supports which may include daily meals, life and employment skills training, and connections to health care and other community services.

If you would also like to receive ongoing program updates, Connective invites you to sign up for the mailing list at connective.ca/1450-signup. For more information visit https://letstalkhousingbc.ca/vancouver-1450-west-12-avenue
