A New Plaza is on The Way

A significant enhancement to the neighbourhood is coming! The temporary plaza at Granville Street and 14th Avenue (near Meinhardt Fine Foods) is officially becoming a permanent public space, bringing lasting benefits to our community and local businesses.

The City of Vancouver's schedule is already underway, and has started with tree and shrub removals in February. Construction of the permanent plaza will kick off in Summer 2025, with completion anticipated in early 2026.

The new plaza will include:

  • Even concrete surfacing, perfect for flexible event programming.

  • Beautiful, fresh plantings and new trees.

  • Public seating designed to encourage visitors and residents to spend more time enjoying the area.

Permanent public spaces like this are proven economic drivers, boost foot traffic, increase visitor dwell time, and enhance overall neighbourhood vibrancy. This plaza will become a community hub that strengthens local attachment and creates opportunities for engaging events that support our business community.

Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to enjoy a vibrant new space that brings the South Granville community closer together!
